Work by Fine Arts graduate student Heather Losey McGeachy has been chosen to adorn the Artist Expression 2009 release from Wine-By-Cougars (WBC). She received a $500 scholarship.
Artist Expression is an annual springtime celebration of a Cougar-connected wine and artwork by a member of that year’s graduating class.
McGeachy drew inspiration from her fascination with wine cellars: the musty oak fragrance, symmetrical structure and impending bounty held within each barrel.
Cougar alumni Kelly and Ann Tucker, Jay and Cyndi Tucker and Chuck and Tracy Reininger have offered a super-premium red wine for the 2009 Artist Expression release. The Reininger 2002 Merlot has matured in the Reininger wine library for five years the perfect amount of time to showcase its structure and complex flavors.
McGeachy’s art captures the importance of the barrel, making her artwork the ideal complement for this outstanding wine.
The wine is available in limited quantities and will sell for $35. Orders will ship the week of April 13.

The WSU Alumni Association launched WBC in May 2006 to introduce premium award-winning WSU alumni wines to WBC members, bring greater exposure to the impact of WSU alumni on the state’s wine industry, and advance WSU’s efforts to educate tomorrow’s wine industry leaders.
