An expert in professional development for teachers will speak at a College of Education research forum on March 25.
Gretchen Givens Generett will present a free public lecture on “Transformative Education: Implications of Research for Teacher Education” at 4 p.m. in Smith CUE 202 at WSU Pullman. A reception will begin at 3:30 p.m.
The forum is sponsored by the Education Graduate Organization and will be of interest to educational researchers, teachers and teacher education majors.
Generett is an associate professor of education at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Her research focuses on the strategies that transformative educational leaders use to create intentional learning communities that cut across grade levels, academic credentials and disciplines.
Her recent publications include “Engaging Bell Hooks: How Teacher Educators Can Sustain Themselves and their Work,” a chapter in Critical Perspectives on bell hooks (2009) edited by Maria Davidson and George Yancy.
