VANCOUVER, Wash. – Three Washington State University Vancouver business students  represented WSU in the National Collegiate Sales Competition (NCSC) held at Kennesaw State University, in Kennesaw, Ga., Feb. 26 – 28. Bobby Castaneda, of Vancouver, and Jonathan Tharp, of Ridgefield, competed in the undergraduate division, while Jason West, of Vancouver, competed in the graduate division.

Castaneda, Tharp and West placed first, second and third respectively in the local NCSC qualifying competition held at WSU Vancouver in December. The three traveled to Kennesaw State University and competed against teams from over 50 other leading universities. West also placed fourth for the graduate division.

The NCSC is a sales role-play competition designed to enhance the educational experience of students with a strong desire to pursue a career in professional sales. Each role-play is broadcast live to a panel of judges comprised of corporate sponsors scouting the next best sales stars. The NCSC is the only competition that allows students from all over North America to test their selling skills in one-on-one sales call challenges. The students are the best and brightest in their collegiate sales programs.

Financial support for costs associated with hosting the annual qualifying event for the NCSC at WSU Vancouver each fall is provided by Aramark. Corporate sponsor resources provide funding that allows the NCSC to defray the expenses of students and faculty participating in the program.

WSU Vancouver is located at 14204 NE Salmon Creek Ave., east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205, or via C-Tran bus service.
