
“Dr. Slinker was ranked as an outstanding choice by virtually all the college faculty. He is highly organized, has great vision and is perfectly positioned to continue implementation of the college’s very progressive and productive strategic plans,” said Warwick Bayly, provost and executive vice president.
Slinker, a professor at VCAPP, received his bachelor of science degree in zoology from the College of Idaho in 1976, and his D.V.M. and Ph.D. degrees from WSU in 1980 and 1982, respectively.
He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Cardiovascular Research Institute of the University of California, San Francisco, and then served as an assistant professor in the department of medicine at the University of Vermont from 1986-1992, before returning to WSU in 1992. He served as the chair of the VCAPP from 1999-2008.
