PULLMAN, Wash.Cat in the Hat and Butch T. Cougar will make special appearances at “Family Night Out,” a celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday. The event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Washington State University’s Cleveland Hall second floor and room 255.
Open to children ages 3 to 10, the party will be hosted by the Student Washington Education Association Educator’s Club. It will feature a buy-one, get-one-free opportunity to buy children’s books. The same offer is available at the club’s Scholastic Book Fair, which is being held weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Feb. 27.
At the party, children will eat birthday cake, read books and make Cat in the Hat hats. There will be different readers throughout the evening, including Craig Nelson, principal of Jefferson Elementary; Brian Moore, principal of Franklin Elementary; Rick Bates, principal of Sunnyside Elementary; Pullman Mayor Glenn Johnson; WSU cheerleaders and athletes; and the Pullman High School cheerleaders.
Cleveland Hall is on the west side of the central WSU campus, at the corner of Idaho Street and College Avenue. Parking is free after 5 p.m.
