VANCOUVER, Wash. – Budget cuts at Washington State University Vancouver have forced the reduction of some programs, including recruiting for a summer 2010 cohort of bachelor of arts in education students at Grays Harbor College.
WSU’s statewide budget has been cut by $10.5 million in the current fiscal year. The governor’s budget calls for a 12 percent cut in the state allocation to WSU for the upcoming biennium.
The current cohort of students is due to complete the program in May 2010. There will be no change in the support for that cohort, but plans to recruit for a new group to begin in 2010 are now withdrawn. WSU Vancouver hopes to maintain its strong relationship with GHC and will review offering programs again once the budget picture improves.
