Share your poems

RICHLAND — Poets of all ages and levels of experience are invited to share their verses at Open Mic Poetry Reading Night, 7:30 p.m. March 5 at WSU Tri-Cities.

The Open Mic event is in the East Building Auditorium at 2710 University Drive, Richland. Admission is free and open to the public.

A sign-up sheet is passed around at 7:30 p.m. Each person who signs up is invited to the microphone to read a poem — preferably no longer than 1-1/2 pages. As time allows, there will be a second or third round of poetry.

“We get people whose poems have been published and we get people who just wrote their first poem last week,” said Leonard Orr, WSU Tri-Cities academic director of the College of Liberal Arts, an English professor, and host of the Open Mic events. “Open mics provide a supportive and interested audience.”

The Open Mic Poetry Reading Nights are part of the WSU Tri-Cities Spring 2009 Liberal Arts Season.
