PERMS offers paperless alternative

PULLMAN- PERMS (Personnel Position Payroll Electronic Routing Management System) is a new web-based application that is used to complete personnel actions for faculty, staff and graduate students and replaces the paper Personnel Action Form (PAF).

The switch to fully utilizing PERMS by trained staff throughout the university will be accomplished during the spring of 2009.

PERMS was developed through collaborative efforts by various individuals and departments from across the university and branch campuses.  Without the collective assistance of all individuals involved the success of PERMS would not have been possible.

PERMS enables the user to enter, authorize personnel transactions, and track their status during the approval process.

Benefits of PERMS for WSU:
 Eliminate most paper PAF’s (Personnel Action Forms)
 Ability to create a WSU ID for new employees when adding a PAF
 Reduce inputting errors through edits and data extraction
 Provide electronic routing and approval of signatures and notification
 Ability to view current appointments and pending PAF’s at the same time
 Ability to track the status of a PAF
 Provide electronic submission of the official copy of the PAF to the official personnel record

Training is mandatory to gain access to PERMS.  HRS has conducted training for many of the academic departments across the university.  HRS has additional PERMS training classes scheduled for employees who are responsible for processing PAF’s.
