VANCOUVER, Wash. Two art exhibits at Washington State University Vancouver focus on classical techniques and beautifully rendered images. They will be on display until Jan. 8.
A solo exhibit of Judy Wyant’s painting is on display in the Engineering Life Sciences building gallery. Wyant draws her inspiration from the local landscape. She often paints on location and works quickly to capture a scene before the light changes. Her paintings have vibrant natural colors. Wyant works with both oil and watercolor paint.
She will be holding a drawing and giving away one of her paintings, a beautiful water color title “Not far from WSUV.” Information on how to enter the drawing will be available near the painting in the Engineering Life Science gallery.
Also on display in the Administration building is a group exhibition of paintings done by of selected members of the Southwest Washington Watercolor Society, formed in 1979 in Vancouver. The organization’s twelve founding members offered a call to watercolorists in the Washington counties of Clark, Cowlitz, Klickitat, Lewis, Pacific, Skamania and Wahkiahum. The membership has grown steadily, and it is now more than 150 artists.
Entry to campus exhibits is free. WSU Vancouver galleries are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. Parking is available at parking meters or in the blue lot for $3.
