High School Students Explore Teaching Careers Friday at WSU Tri-Cities

RICHLAND, Wash. — About 80 high school students will learn what it takes to be a teacher Friday, Oct. 17, at Washington State University Tri-Cities.
 
The Careers In Education High School Conference is from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the East Building at 2710 University Drive, Richland. The students are from the Connell, Kennewick, Pasco, Prosser and Richland school districts.
 
The conference starts with a presentation about special education. Breakout sessions focus on the FISH philosophy, “Math Madness,” and classroom management from the perspective of kindergarten teacher Denise Hogg.  Students rotate between the three sessions from 9:25 to 10:05 a.m., 11 to 11:40 a.m., and 12:15 to 12:55 p.m. The closing session features Education Bingo at 1 p.m. in the East Auditorium.
 
The conference is co-sponsored by the WSU Tri-Cities College of Education and Careers In Education, a vocational advisory group.
 
Washington State University Tri-Cities is located along the Columbia River in Richland, Wash.
