Scholarship Recipients, Donors to be Recognized Friday

RICHLAND, Wash. — The recipients and donors of almost $119,000 in Washington State University Tri-Cities scholarships will be recognized at a luncheon tomorrow (Sept. 26).

These are the annual scholarships offered at WSU Tri-Cities. A total of 88 scholarships were awarded to 67 students, as several students received multiple scholarships.

The luncheon starts at 12 p.m. at WSU Tri-Cities in the Consolidated Information Center, Room 120, at 2770 University Drive, Richland. About 90 students and donors are expected to attend.

The hourlong program features the scholarship recipients making brief comments — often heart-warming — about how important the financial assistance is to their educational goals.

The 63 scholarship contributors include private donors, foundations and service groups, including the Ferguson Family Scholarship, Bryan Cook Memorial Scholarship, Perma-Fix Northwest-Richland Scholarship, Columbia Center Rotary Club Scholarship, and Group Health Foundation Central Washington Diversity Scholarship.

Driving directions: North on George Washington Way, pass Hanford High, pass Sprout Road, go up the hill, turn right at the WSU Tri-Cities sign onto First Street, turn right onto University Drive, turn left into the first parking lot. The CIC is a tall gray building with a curved green roof. Go inside the front doors. The event is at the end of the first floor hallway.

Washington State University Tri-Cities is located along the Columbia River in Richland, Wash. Established in 1989 with upper division and graduate programs, WSU Tri-Cities offers 17 baccalaureate, 13 master’s, and five doctoral degree programs.
