New College of Communication Opens Doors During Homecoming Weekend

PULLMAN, Wash.— Recently elevated from a school to a college, the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University will open its doors Homecoming weekend with a celebration for alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends.

Activities begin at 4 p.m. Sept. 26 in the Communication Addition Building, and will include a barbecue dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and a brief program led by Dean Erica Austin at 6 p.m. Visitors can tour the state-of-the-art facilities and learn about the vision that will guide the new college in advancing Murrow’s legacy of global impact in communication. Among immediate plans is the hiring of several new faculty members to enhance and expand current teaching and research.

Established in July, the College of Communication is the first new college on the WSU Pullman campus since 1998, when the Honors Program was given college status by the WSU Board of Regents. The event is the first open house since the School of Communication became a college.

To attend the dinner, RSVP by e-mail to Twila Brown, twilambrown@wsu.edu; dinner is $10 per person, payable at the door.
