Gov. Christine Gregoire signed a proclamation last month making the Aug. 29, an official observance day for supporters of state colleges and universities. Washington state residents are encouraged to wear apparel representing their favorite college or university.
For the fourth year, College Colors Day seeks to celebrate and promote the traditions and spirit of the college experience, and strives to promote higher education by increasing public awareness and celebrating the achievements of colleges and universities in the U.S.
WSU President Elson S. Floyd signed a presidential decree Aug. 12 in which he proclaims every Friday during the academic year Crimson Spirit Day. He encourages all faculty, staff, alumni, students and supporters of WSU to wear apparel bearing the colors or insignias of the university.
In his decree, Floyd said that wearing WSU’s colors and insignias encourages solidarity among its diverse constituencies and strengthens the spirit of cooperation within the community.
