RICHLAND, Wash. Twenty members of the Washington State University Tri-Cities second freshman class are receiving $1,000 scholarships in recognition of their academic achievements while in high school.
The GPA range for these high-achieving freshmen is 3.98 to 3.5. Each full-time freshman receives $500 toward tuition in fall semester 2008 and $500 for tuition in spring semester 2009.
The 20 scholarship recipients are Rachel Beckstrom, Richland; Christina Bekhazi, Richland; Taylor Capps, Richland; Shane Cherry, Kennewick; Matthew Dearlove, Richland; Angela Fiscus, Moxee; Danielle Garland, West Richland; Jordyn Giulio, West Richland; Jason Gunter, Moxee; Johanna Guzman, Kennewick; Veronica Lopez, Wapato; Samantha Lyons, Kennewick; Amanda Majetich, Richland; Dakota Schwartz, Kennewick; Jeremy Siefken, Richland; Rachel Tate, Kennewick; Maura Tomsinski, Kennewick; Trisha Watson, Pasco; Nichole Wetle, Kennewick; and Kelci Zunker, Kennewick.
Washington State University Tri-Cities is located along the Columbia River in Richland, Wash. Established in 1989 with upper division and graduate programs, WSU Tri-Cities offers 17 baccalaureate, 14 master’s and five doctoral degree programs. The campus added freshman and sophomore courses in fall 2007 to become a full four-year public university, extending the WSU land-grant mission of providing affordable, accessible higher education.
