WSU Tri-Cities welcomes students

RICHLAND — New students will get a dose of Cougar Spirit during Inauguration at WSU Tri-Cities at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21.

The welcome ceremony and barbecue is on the Patio between the West and East buildings, 2710 University Drive, Richland.
 
The program includes “pinning” the new students, comments from Chancellor Vicky L. Carwein, the second freshman class will pose for a class photo and mascot Butch T. Cougar will be there to teach the new students the WSU Fight Song.
 
In addition, the freshmen and incoming transfer students will get their WSU identification cards and planners. Plus the Sunset View Elementary School’s Rugare Marimba Ensemble will perform.
 
About 250 people are expected at Inauguration, including new students and guests. Check-in starts at 4 p.m. in the West Building, downstairs in the Atrium. The program starts at 4:30 p.m.
 
Fall semester starts next Monday, Aug. 25.
 
Washington State University Tri-Cities is located along the Columbia River in Richland, Wash. Established in 1989 with upper division and graduate programs, WSU Tri-Cities offers 17 baccalaureate, 14 master’s and five doctoral degree programs.
