Power’s book, which was published in April by the WSU Press, includes information and discussion about the Hanford site – using non-technical language intended for a general audience.
“For two decades I worked on nuclear waste and cleanup issues on behalf of the State of Washington,” Power said. “During that time, many well-educated, intelligent and serious people said to me: ‘I’m glad you’re working on this. It’s much too scary and complicated for me.’ This book is my response.”
Power is a government consultant with a career in Pacific Northwest nuclear waste issues. He is a former Rhodes Scholar, Yale University Fellow, and Danforth Fellow.
A resident of Corvallis, Ore., Power serves as a governor-appointed public member of the Oregon Hanford Cleanup Board and is a neutral member of the Hanford Concerns Council.
