PULLMAN – A field day for owners of privately held forest and range lands in eastern Washington, northern Idaho and northern Oregon is scheduled for June 14, just south of Dayton.
The event is cosponsored by WSU Extension and 17 other organizations in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
It will cover 24 topics, including wildfire risk reduction, working with consulting foresters, managing a timber sale, rangeland health assessment, cost-incentive programs and more.
Participants will be able to attend up to six presentations.
“The Forest and Range Owners Field Day will offer information that will cover topics applicable in all three states,” said Andy Perleberg, WSU Extension forestry educator.
Gates open at 8 a.m. and presentations will take place at 9 a.m., 10 am, 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
A barbecue lunch benefiting FFA (formerly Future Farmers of America) will be offered on-site for $8, but must be ordered no later than June 9. Participants also are welcome to bring a lunch or dine in Dayton.
Registration is $20 per person and $30 for two or more people in the same party before June 9. Registration on site is $30 per person and $40 for two or more.
The field day site is located 10 miles southeast of Dayton on Cottrill Road. From Dayton, drive four miles southeast on North Fork Touchet Road toward the Bluewood Ski Area.
Turn left on Hatley Gulch Road and drive about four miles to Skyline Road. Turn right and drive two miles to Cottrill Road. Turn right and drive about one-half mile to a gate on the right. Watch for signs.
