Hamlin named a Guggenheim fellow
Will Hamlin, a professor of English, has been named a 2008 Guggenheim Fellow by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation in New York City. He is one of 190 artists, scientists and scholars to receive a 2008 Guggenheim; successful candidates were chosen from more than 2,600 applicants.
“I’m deeply honored to have been chosen as a Guggenheim Fellow,” said Hamlin. “There are few organizations for which I have greater respect. ”
Hamlin, 51, has been a faculty member at WSU since 2001, and the director of English Graduate Studies since 2003. He teaches Shakespeare and Renaissance literature at WSU.
Campus collaborates on planning
A collaborative effort has been launched to update the master plan for WSU Spokane’s Riverpoint campus.
“This kind of planning can become a statewide model for collaboration in higher education,” said WSU Spokane Vice Chancellor Jo Ann Thompson.
Read more about the plan at WSU Today ONLINE @ www.wsutoday.wsu.edu and search “Riverpoint.”
Home pages search function changes
The search function on WSU’s home pages has a new look, but still provides the same site and directory searches as always — and then some.
Instead of choosing “site” or “person” (directory) options at the first search, users now are taken to a separate search page when they hit “go.” This page lets them choose between a general WSU search (Web) or directory searches for faculty/staff or students.
The Web option further helps narrow the search by offering categories sorted by campus.
The new search function is offered on WSU’s main home page, ONLINE @ www.wsu.edu. It also is used on the three home pages listed in the aqua banner on the main page: current students, faculty & staff and alumni & friends.
