RICHLAND, Wash. Latino Community Leaders are meeting with Washington State University Tri-Cities administrators from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Monday March 24.
The session is to establish stronger partnerships between the university and the Latino community, and to make sure the region’s Latino high school students and their families know about opportunities for higher education.
Agenda items include descriptions of WSU Tri-Cities early outreach, WSU Extension services, the university’s partnership with the Tri-City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the WSU Tri-Cities diversity plan, a conversation about the Latino community’s educational needs, plus brainstorming about future partnerships and services.
More than 40 community leaders are expected at the by-invitation meeting. It is being held on the WSU Tri-Cities campus in Room 120 of the Consolidated Information Center, 2770 University Drive, Richland.
The session was coordinated by José L. Garcia-Pabón, the Latino community development specialist and assistant professor in Community and Rural Sociology. Garcia-Pabón joined the WSU Tri-Cities campus last August.
