PULLMAN Fund drives that last a week or longer have become a twice-a-year ritual on most public radio stations around the country. This spring, however, Northwest Public Radio is trying a different approach.
On March 27, Northwest Public Radio will present “Super Thursday,” an attempt to raise in one day what normally takes a full week. The goal for this single day of fundraising is 2,200 pledges.
“We had great success with a one-hour ‘Power Breakfast,’ during which we received about a thousand pledges in one hour, so we decided to expand the concept to a full day,” said Roger Johnson, station manager and program director of Northwest Public Radio. “It’s a bit of a risk, but one that we believe is worth taking.”
“Super Thursday” will begin at 5:30 AM on March 27, and the day’s fundraising will end at 7:00 PM. Listeners will be able to pledge either by calling (800) 842-8991 or by going to www.nwpr.org to make an online pledge.
