WSU’s Visual, Performing, and Literary Arts Committee presents the Harlem Gospel Choir in concert at 7:30 p.m. in Beasley Coliseum on Wednesday, March 19, 2008.
This event is part of VPLAC’s 2007-2008 thematic series “Unity through the Arts” and is free and open to all.
The world famous Harlem Gospel Choir was founded in 1986 by Allen Bailey, who got the idea while attending a celebration honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the renowned Cotton Club in Harlem.
The Choir, comprised of the finest singers and musicians from Harlem’s black gospel churches, strives to make the world a more loving and peaceful place, through its music and dynamic performances; and to create a better understanding of the African-American culture and the inspirational music called Gospel.
The theme of every performance is unity; bringing people & nations together & giving something back. The Choir’s songs of gospel, joy, and inspiration will touch the depths of your soul and raise your spirits to soaring heights.
