Coug women score first Pac-10 victory

The Washington State women’s basketball team, coming off of its first Pacific-10 Conference victory in more than a year, closes its home stand against Oregon Sunday at Friel Court. The Cougars and Ducks are slated to tip-off at 2 p.m.

The Coug women, led by juniors Ebonee Coates and Heather Molzen, grabbed a long-awaited win 56-52 win over OSU in the inaugural Pink Out game, drawing attention to the ongoing fight against breast cancer.

Coates and Molzen each recorded double-doubles, the first of their careers, giving WSU a pair of players scoring and rebounding in double figures for the first time since Jan. 28, 2006 against Arizona. Coates scored a career-high 18 points and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds, her second double-digit rebounding game of the season. Molzen added 10 points and a career-high 10 rebounds, as the Cougars improved to 4-20 on the season and 1-12 in the Pac-10.

The Beavers dropped to 10-15 overall and 3-11 in conference play.

Plan to come out to cheer on the Cougs as they take on Oregon 2 p.m. Sunday at Friel Court.
