U.S. Rep speaks at Veterans Day Ceremony

PULLMAN – U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers will speak at this year’s WSU Veterans Day Ceremony Saturday Nov. 10 on the WSU campus. The annual ceremony is set for 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Kimbrough Hall room 101.
 
Retired Air Force Master Sergeant and current veteran outreach specialist Michael Ogle from the Veterans Center in Spokane will also speak.
 
The Pullman Youth Choir will sing two songs during the ceremony and there will be a continental breakfast reception prior to the event in the
Kimbrough Hall lobby beginning at 9:30 a.m.
 
The ceremony will end with a military rifle salute and fly-by at the WSU Veterans Memorial, located on Veterans Way near Murrow Hall. Military
veterans, past and present, will be honored at the public event.
 
The ceremony takes place in conjunction with Dad’s Weekend, the Stanford Football game, and Armed Forces Day. There will be static displays of Hummvees, a UH-60 Helicopter and a Bradley Fighting Vehicle.
 
According to the Office of Veteran’s Affairs, there are approximately 550 WSU students who are veterans or current members of the Armed Forces. A number of these student veterans have recently returned to class after having served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
