Police chief candidateinvited to visit campus

David Duke, assistant chief of the Moscow Police Department, has been invited to visit the Pullman campus as a candidate for the position of WSU chief of police. Two public forums will be held:
  • 10:30 a.m.-noon in Bohler 186, for faculty, staff and public
  • 3-4:30 p.m. in Smith Center for Undergraduate Education, Room 419, for students

Duke, a 31-year law enforcement veteran, has served with the Moscow Police Department for eight years and with the Oklahoma City Police Department for 23 years where he attained the rank of captain in the investigations bureau. He has over 15 years of supervisory experience in both departments.

He holds a master’s degree in criminal justice management and administration and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Central Oklahoma. He is a graduate of both the FBI National Academy and the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command.

Duke is scheduled to visit campus Oct. 25. There will be an open session for faculty, staff, students and the public and another open session for students.

He also will meet with members of the police department, university leaders, and the search committee. The time and place of the open sessions will be announced through WSU Announcements as soon as the schedule is finalized.
