In the second day of racing, the WSU women’s varsity eight crews placed third and fourth in the Women’s Championship Eight race Sunday at the Head of the Oklahoma.
The Cougars placed behind international teams Australia and Canada. The varsity eight placed third and the second varsity eight placed fourth, crossing the finish line almost two full minutes ahead of the fifth place boat.
“It was another opportunity for us to do something,” head coach Jane LaRiviere said. “I am really proud.”
The Head of the Oklahoma took place in Oklahoma City, Okla. Rowers competed on the recently constructed Oklahoma River. The seven mile stretch of river was completed in 2004 and carried a price tag of more than $56 million.
The Cougars resume action Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Head of the Spokane in Spokane, Wash.
