WSU jazz ensembles

PULLMAN —The first concert of the academic year featuring the award-winning WSU jazz ensembles will be presented at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Kimbrough Concert Hall on the WSU Campus. The concert will be free of charge.

The concert will feature the WSU Jazz Big Band under the direction of Greg Yasinitsky, and the VOJAZZ vocal jazz ensemble under the direction of Jennifer,Scovell-Parker. The program will include music composed by Duke Pearson and Mike Steinel. Also featured will be “Terry’s Song” recently composed by Yasinitsky and a new arrangement Christian McBride’s “In a Hurry” by WSU Jazz Bass Professor David Snider.

Soloists will include trumpeter Brendan McMurphy, vibist Paxton Gehling, guitarist John Sterling, bassist Troy Robery, drummer Tiffany Stephens, and saxophonists Adam Donoue, Chris Siegmund, David Crow, Wes Maples and Matt Lanka.

This concert is made possible by the WSU School of Music and Theatre Arts and the Jazz Society at WSU.
