Treeplanting honors victims

Members of the WSU community planted an eastern red cedar tree in

the Alumni Arboretum Wednesday afternoon in memory of those who died in the Virginia Tech shooting tragedy in April.

The incident resulted in the killing of 32 innocent VT students and faculty, all shot by a suicidal student gunman.

A similar tree is to be planted later this month on the campus of Virginia Tech.

The tree planting was lead by Tim Pavish (Photo: L-R), WSU Alumni Association executive director, and Robert Bates, provost and executive vice president. At the base of the tree, a brick plaque includes spirit emblems of both universities and an inscription: “Planted in memory of loved ones lost at Virginia Tech”.

The arboretum is located northeast of the Lewis Alumni Centre.
