Student regent named; Forgette reappointed

William (Billy) Gordon, a WSU senior majoring in psychology and finance, has been named the student member of the WSU Board of Regents for the 2007-2008 academic year.

Gordon’s selection as WSU’s tenth student regent was made last month by Gov. Christine Gregoire. The appointment runs through June 30, 2008.

The governor also announced the reappointment of Francois Forgette of Kennewick to a six-year term on the board ending September 2013.

A native of Ellensburg, Gordon has served as an Associated Students of WSU senator and a member of the student Senate Finance Committee. While active in ASWSU, he spearheaded a successful project to acquire new computers and extend the hours of operation at Holland and Terrell Libraries. He is serving on the Compton Union Building advisory board.

Forgette was first appointed to the Board of Regents in May 2005. He is a partner with the Tri-Cities law firm of Rettig Osborne Forgette, LLP, which he joined in 1977. He also serves as the immediate past chairman of the TRIDEC Board of Directors. TRIDEC is the economic development entity for the greater Tri-Cities area in Benton and Franklin Counties.
