Professor recognized for education leadership

Professor Corinne Mantle-Bromley, chair of the Washington State University Department of Teaching and Learning, has been recognized as an AED (Agenda for Education in Democracy) Scholar.

Mantle-Bromley is one of 30 educators from 16 states to be designated as AED Scholars for their continuing contributions to the Agenda for Education in Democracy. The honor is bestowed by the Seattle-based Institute for Educational Inquiry. Mantle-Bromley was recognized for her leadership in strengthening partner schools and teacher education curricula.

The AED Scholars include professors and administrators from colleges of education and schools of arts and sciences, principals and superintendents from school districts, and leaders of school-university partnerships and state educational improvement initiatives. Most are associated with the National Network for Educational Renewal.

Mantle-Bromley was co-facilitator of the Developing Networks of Responsibility to Educate America’s Youths initiative. Prior to her present position at WSU, she was a research professor in the College of Education at the University of Washington. She has also been an associate professor in the School of Education at Colorado State University, where she and her colleagues worked to create and study school-university partnerships. She is co-author of Education for Everyone: Agenda for Education in a Democracy (Jossey-Bass, 2004).
