The Cougars finished the 2006-07 season with a 26-8 record and a second place regular season finish in the Pacific-10 Conference. The 26 wins tied the team with the 1941 national runner-up squad for the most in school history and was good enough to earn a No. 3 seed in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament. The Cougars made their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1994, and posted their first NCAA Tournament win in 24 years with a first round defeat of Oral Roberts University.

Head Coach Tony Bennett earned numerous coach-of-the-year awards, including the Naismith and Associated Press honors. To see Bennett’s profile, go to https://wsucougars.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/bennett_tony00.html
