Life Sciences Grant Competition Meeting Wednesday at WSU Tri-Cities

RICHLAND, Wash. — Life sciences researchers and health-care providers can learn how to compete for $20 million in grants at a public information session this Wednesday at Washington State University Tri-Cities.
 
The Life Sciences Discovery Fund grant competition is designed to support the development of innovative new programs that strengthen Washington state’s economy and improves health and health care for Washington state residents. The sessions are free and open to the public.
 
The informational meeting is at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, in the WSU Tri-Cities East Building Auditorium, 2710 University Drive. The schedule for additional public information sessions being held around the state can be found at www.lsdfa.org.
 
Referred to as “LSDF 07-02,” the organization will issue a call for proposals in late June 2007. Full proposals are due in October. Approximately $20 million in grants will be awarded in March 2008.
 
Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations in Washington state, such as public and private universities, non-profit research institutions, public health departments, public and private hospitals, health systems and clinics. Applicants must be nonprofit organizations, but for-profit companies are encouraged to join an eligible applicant in a collaborative proposal.
