WSU President V. Lane Rawlins Visits Tri-Cities on May 17 for Farewell Reception

RICHLAND, Wash. — A farewell reception for Washington State University President V. Lane Rawlins is set for 5 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at the WSU Tri-Cities campus.

Community members interested in honoring Rawlins upon his retirement are asked to RSVP for the reception by Monday, May 14.

There is no cost to attend the Tri-Cities reception, but reservations are strongly recommended. Reserve your space online at www.wsu.edu/alumni, click on “Rawlins Legacy Farewell Receptions.”

The reception to celebrate Rawlins’ presidency will be in the Consolidated Information Center (CIC), Room 120, at 2770 University Drive, Richland. It ends at 7 p.m.

Rawlins is WSU’s ninth president. A former WSU faculty member and administrator, he served from 1991-2000, as president of The University of Memphis before returning to WSU. He assumed office as WSU’s president on June 8, 2000.

In addition to family ties to the Tri-Cities, Rawlins has supported the regional campus’ growth into a four-year program with the Fall 2007 admission of freshmen and sophomores.
