V-Day WSU Donates Over $5,000 to Local Organization

PULLMAN, Wash.—V-Day Washington State University has donated $5,628 to Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse and the 2007 V-Day Spotlight group, Women in Conflict Zones.

V-Day WSU, a registered student organization, staged three benefit performances of “The Vagina Monologues” in late February. Ninety percent of the proceeds generated went to Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse (ATVP). The other 10 percent went to support the V-Day Spotlight group, Women in Conflict Zones.

ATVP is a non-profit organization that works to support a violence-free community and strives to help victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The purpose of the 2007 Spotlight group, Women in Conflict Zones, was to insure that wartime sexual violence remains in the public eye and on the media agenda. 

The Student Services and Activities (S&A) Fees Committee approved V-Day WSU for funding for another benefit production of “The Vagina Monologues” scheduled for Feb. of 2008. S&A fees along with an in-kind contribution from WSU Health and Wellness Services fund the production of “The Vagina Monologues.”
