Students in Human Development 205, an experiential based interpersonal communication course at WSU, have created a community service event on behalf of Palouse Habitat for Humanity.
The non-profit organization that provides housing for local, low income families in need. Families contribute 500 hours to the construction process and acquire a no-interest loan to pay for material costs. Most of the construction is executed by volunteers, and our students are assisting in building the current project house in Moscow.
Palouse Habitat for Humanity is now raising money to initiate the next build. To support that effort, HD 205 students are sponsoring a benefit carnival and silent auction called “Homes for Hope “, which will be held on April 21st at Lincoln Middle School in Pullman. The carnival will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bidding will open for the silent auction at 11 a.m. and last call for bids will occur at 3 p.m. Winner announcements will begin at 3 p.m.
There will be fun-filled activities for families including a petting zoo, face painting, pitching machine, obstacle course, cake walk and more. Admission is $4 per person and food is $2 per person (catered by Qdoba). All proceeds will be donated to Palouse Habitat for Humanity.
