Students choreograph, dance at DANCEMOTION

Dance students in the Washington State University Theatre Program will present DANCEMOTION at 8 p.m. April 20-21 in Jones Theatre,  Daggy Hall. The program showcases students in beginning and intermediate/advance Modern and Jazz dance classes.

This production is the culmination of training and creativity as students perform works choreographed by themselves as well as instructor Phyllis K. Gooden-Young.

The performance will include WSU’s Elite Dance Company with dancers Alexis Daly, Jamie Ellis, Laura Eychaner, Kaley Jean McNamara and Danielle Nelson. This year’s Elite Dance Company was the first to be adjudicated at the American College Dance Festival regional conference held at the University of Montana in Missoula for their performance of “Flashback” choreographed by Gooden-Young.

Also included in this semester’s concert is a pre-show staged by Corrine Costello, a senior majoring in theatre. Her presentation features dances to Madonna’s “Vogue” and Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” and was conceived and staged as her “exit project.” Costello has been working with fifty dancers and choreographers on this performance.

DANCEMOTION tickets are $5.00 general admission and are available at the Daggy Hall box office. The box office will be open 2-5:30 p.m. April 18 – 20 and one hour prior to show time.

For reservations, contact the theatre box office at (509) 335-7236 or reservations@wsu.edu.
