WSU Jazz Big Band performs at WSU Tri-Cities

RICHLAND, Wash. — Washington State University’s award-winning Jazz Big Band will perform at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at the WSU Tri-Cities campus.

The Jazz Big Band will perform on the patio behind the East and West buildings, 2710 University Drive, Richland. In case of inclement weather, the band will be in the East Building Auditorium.

The 90-minute concert is part of WSU Tri-Cities Spring 2007 Liberal Arts Season and is sponsored by the Associated Students of Washington State University Tri-Cities

The Jazz Studies Program at WSU has received national attention including awards and recognition from Down Beat and Jazziz magazines. The WSU Jazz Big Band has 16 members. Directed by Greg Yasinitsky, the band regularly is invited to perform at prestigious events and conferences. The WSU Jazz Big Band was awarded the Adjudicator’s Special Commendation Award (first place) in the College Guest Band division at 2007 Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival held at the University of Idaho.
