Sylvia Bodolay, 56, director of information systems for the College of Education, was killed Feb. 15 in a collision on Highway 195 near Plaza.
Two others riding in Bodolay’s car were transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center for treatment of nonlife-threatening injuries. Those passengers included Georgina Mitchell, WSU School of Economic Sciences, and Wendy Estes-Zumpf, who works at the University of Idaho. The three women, all Spokane residents, were part of a carpool.
The driver of the semi truck, Raymond L. Skipper, was not injured. Washington State Patrol told KHQ-TV that all four adults involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts and alcohol was not a factor.
Bodolay worked at the College of Education for seven years. Her accomplishments at WSU included planning the technology features of the Education Addition, a state-of-the-art classroom building that opened in 2005.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1104 W. Heroy, Spokane.
