Contract administrator takes top service award

VANCOUVER– Washington State University has presented one of two Grants and Contract Administrator Service Awards to WSU Vancouver’s Peggy Bowe.

In a ceremony at the Pullman campus Feb. 7, WSU Vice Provost of Research Jim Petersen and Assistant Vice President for Business and Finance Barry Johnston presented the award. Bowe has worked for WSU since 1991, and in Vancouver since 2004.

“Peggy works to grow the sponsored research so critical to the development of our research-intensive campus,” said Lynn Valenter, WSU Vancouver vice chancellor for finance and operations. “She provides one-stop project management.”

“Many people throughout the WSU system had to work well together to create my success,” Bowe said. “When the system works well, then I work well.”

Bowe provides support and assistance to faculty during proposal preparation, including understanding submission deadlines, funding agency guidelines, proposal submission process and university policies and procedures. Her services are based on a model being used at two of the WSU campuses – WSU Spokane and WSU Vancouver, blending pre- and post-award services in one position.
