WSU Vancouver Diversity Council seeks art work

VANCOUVER– Washington State University Vancouver seeks proposals for individual or group art shows to be displayed in nine Diversity Council display cases in the campus library.

Artists should submit an artist statement, exhibition resume, proposal including how the exhibition supports the diversity council mission and no more than three digital jpeg images of the work. Contact Erin Madarang for specific dimensions.

The deadline for the next group of exhibitions is March 15, although the search is ongoing throughout the year for future showings. Exhibitions will last two to three months.

The council will consider any artwork with themes illustrating issues of identity, heritage or cultural and social issues. Traditional and non-traditional media will be considered. Preference will be given to local artists or groups.

The mission of the WSU Vancouver Diversity Council endeavors to model the university for the state and nation, as a community of individuals who seek what is best for each other. The university respects and significantly benefits from diversity as expressed through racial and ethnic, gender, cultural, disability, age, sexual orientation, religious and socioeconomic differences among faculty, staff and students. The university staff and faculty take seriously the responsibility to offer educational and professional opportunities equitably to all qualified persons who can be accommodated. Through curriculum, programs and services, the university provides understanding and supportive interaction among diverse population groups and respects individuals’ personal values and ideas.
