Pullman–Nominations for the Washington State University Women of Distinction and Woman of the Year awards will be accepted online through Monday Feb. 9.
The Women of Distinction awards are presented to women who are a WSU alumna, an employee, a student and a community member. All nominees are eligible for the Woman of the Year award. Awards will be presented at the Women’s Recognition Luncheon on March 28 at the Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum.
The awards are presented annually by WSU in recognition of National Women’s History Month in March. The selection process is done by a committee comprised of a chairperson, representatives from the President’s Commission on the Status of Women, president’s office and other university women’s groups.
The theme for the WSU Women’s History Month 2007 celebration will be “Generations of Women Moving History Forward.” Also, WSU is focusing on “In the Footsteps of Remarkable Women.”
“Our goal this year is to find women who have really addressed the theme, made history at WSU or within the community,” said Kathleen Hagen, chair of the Women of Distinction and Woman of the Year award committee.
Distinguished women who are creating positive social change, increasing equality for all and building community through service should be nominated for an award, Hagen said. WSU faculty, staff, students and community members are encouraged to submit an official form with their candidate proposals.
Nomination forms may be submitted online through a link at www.wsu.edu/president or via email csw@wsu.edu.
