Art Galleries of WSU Vancouver Host New Exhibits for the Holiday Season

Vancouver, Wash. – Two new exhibits featuring the works of local artists are now on display at Washington State University Vancouver galleries.

The Student Services building gallery will display colorful acrylic paintings on clay by Linda Sawaya through Jan. 12, and a selection of works from Ines Epperson is on display in the Engineering and Life Sciences building through Jan. 28.

Ines Epperson was raised in the South of France and studied Fine Arts and Decorative Arts at the Academie Charpentier in Paris, which developed a solid foundation for her present painting technique. Eventually, Epperson moved to the United States, and received a bachelor of fine arts in environmental design at California College of Arts and Crafts in San Francisco.

She currently works as a church interior designer and is a member of the Northwest Oil Painters Guild and the Ridgefield Art Association. Epperson paints almost exclusively in oils. She combines studio work with her love of painting “en plein air,” in the outdoors. She describes her technique as somewhat loose and spontaneous with an impressionistic style. Linda Sawaya works in many media including collage with paint, photography, ceramics and a variety of paint media. Her work has been exhibited in New York, Oregon, California, and now Washington. She teaches a variety of art classes in her Portland studio, and has written a family cookbook of traditional Lebanese recipes called Alice‘s Kitchen. During the winter break, Dec. 16 to Jan. 1, the Student Services and Engineering and Life Science buildings will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, closed on weekends. All WSU Vancouver buildings will be closed Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1.
