SPOKANE, Wash. Attorney General Rob McKenna, Microsoft child safety expert Linda Criddle, and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) Executive Assistant Director for Combating Terrorism Scott E. Jacobs, will discuss current strategies for protecting the public from cybercrime and combating its growth in a news conference occurring at 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the Mirabeau Park Hotel in Spokane, Washington.
Each speaker is delivering a keynote address at WSU’s first inaugural Cybercrime and Digital Forensics Conference, held on October 25 and 26 at the Mirabeau Park Hotel in
McKenna’s presentation, “How the Attorney General’s Office is Working to Protect Citizens from High-Tech Dangers,” will discuss actions being taken to address the alarming growth in cybercrime. Criddle has recently published the book, Look Both Ways: Help Protect Your Family on the Internet, and will address how child predators are using today’s technology to pursue their victims. Jacobs will address how the NCIS is utilizing digital forensics to capture cybercriminals.
A fourth keynote speaker, Ed Schweitzer, President and Founder of Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, will be available for interviews at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26. Schweitzer’s presentation will address recent actions to make the electric grid more secure from cyberterrorist attacks. Schweitzer will also make a second presentation on his personal experiences with cybercrime and bank fraud.
