WSU Counseling and Student Health Advisory Committee Seeks New Members

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University’s Counseling and Student Health Advisory Committee (CSHAC) is currently seeking students interested in becoming committee members.

Any student interested in having a voice in health and counseling issues at WSU and looking for leadership experience is encouraged to apply to be a member of the advisory group.

For over 40 years CSHAC has acted as a liaison among WSU students, student government members and administrators in order to better the health programs on campus. The committee includes undergraduate and graduate students; physicians and psychologists from WSU and Pullman; and the directors of Health and Wellness Services, Counseling and Testing Services and Benefit Services.

The committee works with leaders of ASWSU and GPSA to gain feedback on topics including health fees, new program development and budget issues. Other duties include advising the directors of Health and Wellness Services and Counseling and Testing Services, recommending new health programs and evaluating student insurance plans.

In the past, CSHAC has been critical in securing stable long-term funding for WSU Counseling and Testing Services. The group has also held student forums in order to change the structure of health insurance to better meet students’ needs.

Meetings are on the third Wednesday of each month at noon, with lunch provided. Any WSU student is welcome to attend meetings and give input.

Students interested in being a member of the committee can contact Donna Hash, Health and Wellness Services Administrative Manager, by phone at 509/335-6759 or by email at hashd@wsu.edu.
