Scott E. Carson, president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, has been named as the 20th member of the Washington State University presidential search advisory committee.
Carson’s appointment was announced Thursday, Oct 5, by the Board of Regents Chair Kenneth Alhadeff.
“Scott Carson is a most accomplished and supportive alumnus of WSU. He will bring a valuable perspective to the committee,” Alhadeff said. “As a research university, WSU plays a vital role in economic development. We wanted to have a strong spokesperson for Washington’s business on the committee, and Scott certainly fills that role.”
Carson is a 1972 graduate in business administration from WSU. He received his MBA from the University of Washington. He serves on the board of governors of the WSU Foundation, and is chair of the WSU College of Business national board of advisors and is on the College of Engineering and Architecture advisory board. Last month, he received WSUAlumni Achievement Award.
Boeing Commercial Airplanes is headquartered in Renton. As president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes and executive vice president of The Boeing Company, Carson is responsible for all of the company’s commercial airplanes programs and related services, which in
2005 generated record orders for new business of more than $22.8 billion.
Prior to his current position, Carson was vice president of sales at Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
Alhadeff said Carson’s appointment completes the committee, which is seeking a successor to President V. Lane Rawlins, who has announced plans to retire in June 2007.
