Public Meetings on WSU Presidential Search Set for Tri-Cities Oct. 13

TRI-CITIES, Wash. – Washington State University faculty, staff and students as well as area community members will have a chance to share their ideas on WSU’s presidential search during two public forums here on Friday, Oct. 13

Two public forums will be held at the East Building on the WSU Tri-Cities campus located off George Washington Way in Richland.  The session at 2 p.m. will be in Room 208 and the one at 5:30 p.m. will be in the East Auditorium, Room 266.

The public meetings provide an opportunity for people to share their thoughts on the priority work for WSU’s president in coming years and on the characteristics of a new president that will make the individual a good match for the university and its goals.

These forums will be led by Rafael Stone, a member of the WSU Board of Regents and chair of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee. Two other regents on the committee will also participate.

Similar public meetings were held in Pullman on Sept. 28 and others are planned for Spokane, Vancouver and Seattle this month.

President V. Lane Rawlins, who has served as WSU’s ninth president since 2000, announced in July that he plans to retire in June 2007.
