PULLMAN – Scott E. Carson, president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, was awarded the prestigious Washington State University Alumni Achievement Award on Saturday Sept. 16 in Seattle. The presentation took place during the Cougar Gridiron Classic football game at Qwest Field.
As president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes and executive vice president of The Boeing Company, Carson is responsible for all of the company’s commercial airplanes programs and related services, which in 2005 generated record orders for new business of more than $22.8 billion. Prior to his current position, Carson was vice president of sales at Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
Carson serves as the Boeing executive focal for WSU, is on the board of governors of the WSU Foundation, is chair of the WSU College of Business national board of advisors and is on the College of Engineering and Architecture advisory board.
The Boeing Scott and Linda Carson Chair in Marketing was established in fall 2005 by a gift from The Boeing Company honoring Scott and Linda Carson’s leadership and dedication to higher education, and by an additional gift from the Carson family. Carson and his wife, Linda, have also created the innovative Scott and Linda Carson Center for Professional Development and the Carson Family Endowed Scholarship Fund at the WSU College of Business. The Carsons are both active Life Members of the WSU Alumni Association.
Since 1890 a quarter of a million people have attended WSU, but only 461 alumni have ever received the WSU Alumni Achievement Award.
