PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University President V. Lane Rawlins will discuss the university’s progress and the opportunities for WSU in the next decade when he gives his annual State of the University Address Tuesday, Sept. 26.
The speech is open to the public. It will begin at 4:10 p.m. at the Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum on the Pullman campus. The address can also be viewed live online at www.wsu.edu/dialogues-forums/.
Rawlins, who assumed the presidency in June 2000, has announced plans to retire in June 2007. He has stressed that his final year as president is a vital one for the university as it continues to build its academic reputation and pursues its efforts to gain public and private financial support.
In his speech, the WSU president is expected to discuss the university’s biennial budget proposal, which has been approved by the Board of Regents and submitted to the state. He will explain what he sees as the opportunities available to the university in the next decade — in education, in research and in augmenting Washington’s economic development.
He will also put forward his list of the top ten accomplishments of the university during the past academic year.
A reception will follow the event in the Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum Concourse.
