Party in the Park Sept. 23

PULLMAN, Wash.-Washington State University will host the “Party in the Park” from 12 to 5 p.m. on Saturday Sept. 23 in Reaney Park as part of the fourth annual International Education Week. This event is an effort to reach beyond WSU and involve the community in International Education Week.

“Party in the Park,” sponsored by the Associated Students of Washington State University and the International Students’ Council, is free and open to the public.

The event will offer live music from an array of culturally diverse bands and tables from various international student organizations at WSU that will display cultural artifacts from their specific countries.

The live music will include invigorating Latin/salsa music played by Carlos Cascante y su Tumbao. Changing cultures and sounds, Sesitshaya Marimba will perform Zimbabwe style music; and adding a twist to the diverse event, a French-Canadian Cajun style musical group called Decapite will also contribute to the sounds of the “Party in the Park.”

In addition to the music and artifacts, food will be sold throughout the evening. In the case of rain, the event will be relocated to the Gladdish Community Center.

International Education Week will take place Sept. 22-29 and include several activities to promote international awareness in the Pacific Northwest. All events are free and open to the public.
