Garrison Keillor and The Guys All-Star Shoe Band will present an evening of stories and music in a non-broadcast performance titled “American Songs, Nattering and the Story of the Pontoon Boat.” The performance will take place on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Beasley Coliseum on the campus of Washington State University in Pullman.
This show is in addition to the live broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion earlier that afternoon and will feature largely different content.
“For those who were unable to get tickets for the afternoon performance, we’re very pleased that Garrison Keillor and the Shoe Band are providing this second opportunity.” said Station Manager Roger Johnson. “And even for those who do have tickets for the live broadcast, the evening program will provide another chance to see and hear one of public radio’s most beloved personalities.”
Tickets for this performance are $25 and will go on sale Sept. 14 at all TicketsWest outlets. All tickets will be reserved seating. Those who have tickets for the afternoon performance will be required to buy separate tickets if they plan to attend the evening performance.
Students at WSU and the University of Idaho may purchase tickets for $15. To qualify, WSU and UI students must bring their student ID and purchase their tickets in person at either the Beasley Coliseum or Kibbie Dome ticket offices.
A native Minnesotan, Garrison Keillor began working at Minnesota Public Radio in 1969. In the summer of 1974, he hosted the first live broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion, a program now heard weekly on more than 580 public radio stations by more than four million listeners. Keillor is also the author of 13 books and winner of numerous awards for his broadcasting and literary work, including membership in the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters (2001), The National Humanities Medal (1999), and a Grammy Award for the recording of Lake Wobegon Days (1985).
