Wine auction supports WSU programs

August’s 19th annual Auction of Washington Wines raised $1.9 million for the Northwest’s Children’s Hospital & Regional Medical Center and also for the Washington Wine Education Foundation.

The foundation supports collegiate programs in Washington viticulture and enology.  A portion of the funds raised at the auction goes directly to Washington State University, Yakima Valley Community College and Walla Walla Community College. The programs at these institutions offer quality enological educational programs that provide students with the skills to further Washington’s wine industry.

The Auction of Washington Wines, a nonprofit organization of the Washington wine industry, represents more than 400 wineries and 350 wine grape growers.

The organization has raised more than $17 million for Children’s Hospital since 1988.
